Thanks to stellar blog Kotaku for posting this “best of” King of Fighters. Some of the stupidest-looking magic effects and wire work I’ve ever seen. The battle scene at the end also culminates in…you guessed it: a sword throw. So bad it’s good? Let me know, lovely lurkers. ~Jenn
I”ll let you know when to start combing your Netflices, lovely lurkers, but know that Team Bonzuko is involved with a movie being shot in and around Boulder and its environs. It’s called The Code. Jas is playing the Commander who disarms a bomb in our protagonist’s past, and Jenn is in charge of the blocking and stunts. Here’s the website for the project. http://www.thecode2012.com/
From the 1960s Batman movie. This is a nice compilation of the fights from said movie. Listening to the Blu-Ray’s special features it was interesting to note two things: one, that Burt Ward did most of his own stunts, and got injured a lot. He says he was in the emergency room 4 times within the first few weeks of shooting. Also, that the final fight on the boat was in a shallow lake, with bars under the water for fastening things. A stuntman dove into the water, smacked his head, and got a concussion (I think I can see which one he was–can you?). ~Jenn
There will be more up here re: the Summer Stage Combat Class’ trip down to APEX Movement Studios today. For now, enjoy this picture of Scott floating down from a vault. Thanks again, Ryan and APEX folks! We all had a blast! ~Jenn
Thanks to Time Warp and Boing Boing for interesting takes on the freerunning (Parkour? someone help) phenomenon. Time lapse and 1930s, respectively. Getting psyched up for the summer class’ field trip to APEX! ~Jenn
Just watched this episode today on Science HD. This is a video of some of the stunts that didn’t make it into the show itself. If you haven’t seen Time Warp, catch it if you can. In HD though. ~Jenn
Fascinating issue brought up by fellow stage combat blog Them’s Fightin’ Words re: how stunt fighting may have to change in the new rash of 3D films. What do you think, lovely lurkers? Comment here or there with your two cents’ worth. ~Jenn
