Sword and Sorcery and Nicolas Cage

Thanks to stellar blog i09 for alerting us to the upcoming sword-and-sorcery flick Season of theseason-of-the-witch Witch. Looks like some good old-fashioned gettin’-medieval-on-ya. Looks like some spooky horror action a-la the best parts of Name of the Rose (remember that one?). The broadsword fights I could glimpse look exciting, if a bit edited, but I’ll reserve judgment till I see em.   ~Jenn

Oh boy. Another opportunity for Nicolas Cage to demonstrate his “versatility.” (And yet I will probably still enjoy it.)

Who was it that recently named Cage as one of the best-worst actors? AOTS? Anyway, I agree and I agree with you too, Brady.

Yes, he is in a number of my “guilty pleasure” movies like Con Air, The Rock, Face-Off, etc. but always with me feeling like another actor could have done so much better.
I don’t think he’s a bad actor (Raising Arizona, Moonstruck), I just don’t think he’s the right actor for every role. Hollywood obviously disagrees with me on this. Case in point, his 42+-year-old Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider.

Just watched the trailer. They can’t even edit his bad line delivery out of the trailer? Yikes.
Meanwhile, I now have the 60′s psychedelic groove by Donovan from which they swiped the title stuck in my head.
