Oh Open Beta, we hardly knew ye…
I find myself needing to tell you lovely lurkers how well I liked Diablo III when I played it in its open beta stage last weekend. This because the Diablo franchise has a special place in the Bonzuko world, and Diablo II especially is one of those games we’ve played together and with friends for many, many hours. The third Diablo game has been a long time coming, and my fellow addicts and I have been waiting with bated breath.
From what I gathered in the beta quest (we got to kill Leoric! Oh, the memories…), Diablo III has all the kill-monster-collect-loot addictive goodness we all want and need from our Diablo games, but with new, interesting character classes, smooth trade and stash functions, and lovely scenarios.
The undead in the beta were creepy and gross in the best of ways, and the skill level just right for either Diablo veterans that are accustomed to the game’s rhythm, and newcomers that have never played it before. There wasn’t much room in the beta for seeing huge levels or crazily unique items, but the potentials of each character were apparent in the character creation screen.
I am very much looking forward to Diablo III–it’s just like Diablo of old, but playable new, if you can understand what I mean by that, lovely lurkers. The game comes out May 15th. ~Jenn
