I assigned this last minute to my advanced stage combat class, lovely lurkers. Remember this vid from way back in…’08 I think? Please to enjoy.
Fun fact: I named this video after a hugely influential dance class I took, back when I was 16. It was that summer I took aerial dance for the first time. It was called the same thing, but was all about lifts and rolls, dance-style. I’m so tall (and now, also big) that I am not usually the one to be lifted in a dance piece. It was a lot of fun to be on that side of things, and to realize I could be a flyer in some circumstances. ~Jenn
Oh, okay, well there is this: it’s a blooper reel from the new Star Trek movie. Some fun stage combat-related bloopers, including a pretty tense-looking fall around 2:25 or so.
No, I didn’t take any pictures Day One of the MSCD Advanced Stage Combat class. However, trust me that it was awesome and the guys (and gal) in it are proving to be a fun bunch. I will most likely have a little weekly update on the fun stuff in class but mostly the students’ work and the results of their efforts will be here: http://www.vimeo.com/groups/advancedstagecombat
Another class “blog” which you should follow if you’re interested not only in stage combat and stunt fighting, but also about how process works in the arts. ~Jenn
Break a leg, folks in Classic Acts’ production of Cyrano tonight. Sorry I couldn’t be there, but I’m sure you’re doing my fights with…shall we say….panache? ~Jenn
You don't think Cyrano would kick Valvert in the nuts? Au contraire...

Here’s the abbreviated post (with full link and video link) re: the Lifehacker How to Throw a Punch entry I contributed to a month or so back. On Nerds in Babeland, where I sometimes contribute. Speaking of cool things I did this summer… ~Jenn
