Quote of the Day

April 30th, 2010 1 comment

Shikin Haramitsu Dai Komyo “Powerful Light of Wisdom”

Shikin has 4 dimensions:
  1. A merciful heart, expressing love for everything
  2. A sincere heart, to follow what is right
  3. A heart in tune with the natural order
  4. A heart dedicated to a chosen pursuit
Combined, these four elements produce great wisdom (Haramitsu), yielding a powerful aura (Dai Komyo). The energy emitted is like a nuclear reaction continuing forever. A ninja must penetrate the depths of knowledge for complete enlightenment.

Fluid Dance

April 27th, 2010 No comments

Again, I must thank stellar blog Boing-Boing for posting this master’s thesis dance piece that uses technology to show fluid dynamics around the dancer. Love this for a few reasons–it’s cool-looking, I get all nostalgic and want to do modern dance again…oh, and the dancer is from SIU, which is where my mom went for dance. What do you think, Mom? ~Jenn

A Scary Near Miss

April 26th, 2010 No comments

Heard from stellar blog i09 that the famous claw-in-the-bathtub scene in Nightmare on Elm St (the 2010 version) came a little too close for comfort. IGAGI awards addition, before the votes are counted? ~Jenn

Happy Shakespeare Day!

April 23rd, 2010 No comments

April 23rd is a big Shakespeare anniversary–it’s his death day and alleged birthday as well. I’ll celebrate by posting a couple more rehearsal photos of the Shakespeare After Dark event the club did last weekend, and one of my favorite bits from the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s Compleat Works of Shakespeare (abridged). It’s the Histories. Done all at once. These guys are masters of clowning, and I’m sorry I had forgotten about them for my Clowning unit in Stage Combat. :) ~Jenn

Thief, the Prison Project

April 23rd, 2010 No comments

If you’re new to Daily Cross-Swords, just click on the Thief tag to get sort-of an explanation or at least a history of why I sometimes post thief stories here. Thanks to stellar blog mental_floss for this story today.

I thought this was…interesting. Minimum security indeed. ~Jenn
