Star Wars Yoga
Thanks to stellar blog Boing-Boing for linking to the Star Wars Yoga session of today on YogaToday.com. They’re really doing this: it’s a Star Wars themed yoga class.
As a yoga instructor and giant Star Wars geek myself, I must say, “Hmm.” It’s true that the Force is an energy field that surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the universe together, but is it possible one can increase one’s midichlorian count with ujjayi breathing?
Stage Combat Class Workshop
Here’s the two videos of the MSCD THE 421C class’ swordfighting rough drafts. These are rough, people, as in, not finished, need work, etc. They are also awesome–I can see tons of potential in each. There are two videos which encompass the whole class’ rough performances.
Class members: you have until midnight Sunday to give useful feedback here as posted comments to at least 3 of the groups. Sorry about the occasional stutter–it’s just a webcam after all.
Anyone else: do not try this at home. See this before you even watch it.
Stay tuned for the final versions of these, next week. ~Jenn
Assassin’s Creed Lineage: Part 1
It’s here–the first Assassin’s Creed: Lineage series of short films has been released to YouTube. Yay…and sigh… Thanks to stellar blog Kotaku for alerting us to this!
Does this whole film read like a trailer to you? Is it just me? Wouldn’t the Assassin outfit be an awesome Halloween costume? Yes, I know they have them available online. No, please don’t tell me how much they go for. I don’t want to know. ~Jenn
Beautiful Samurai Flick and Failed Ninja Move
Check out this link from i09: Cup of Tears trailer This is visually stunning, ain’t it? Apparently it was all shot in Ireland (and in front of green screens), but I’m not seeing anything about where it’s being released. Is it just, out in theatres in 2010? Anyway, I thought some of the commenters had a point about its over-top-style, but IMO it has the
potential to be a lovely visual experience. I’m not willing to write off the acting until I’ve seen more. Maybe I’m just not bitter and jaded enough when really cool ninjas melt out of the shadows to steal magical vessels.
Speaking of melting out of and into shadows, just down the i09 list was this slightly drawn out but funny anyway skit from College Humor.com. Batman’s trick of melting into the shadows is awesome, but only when it actually works. Are You Still Here? I think this skit could be really funny with ninjas as well. ~Jenn
This Weekend’s Exciting Events
Of course, we at Bonzuko love Halloween. But there are a few events happening besides the spooky holiday here in our neck o’the woods. Here’s the deal for any of you local lurkers:
Thursday the 29th: it’s Jason’s birthday. Also, the THE 421C Stage Combat class makes fake blood and gets all Halloween on their newly-found sword skills.
Friday the 30th: BQC test nite: adult belt test begins at 6pm at the Boulder Quest Center
Friday the 30th: Auraria Campus Halloween Party: 7-10pm at the Tivoli. The MSCD
Stage Combat Club perform their demos at 8:30pm
Saturday the 31st: Halloween Party at the Boulder Quest Center. Be a ninja on Halloween. For real!
November 1st: Jenn and the folks at Silly String Girl shoot footage for their annual Doritos commerical contest. Pirates, ninjas, and zombies. Oh my. Contact Jenn if you’re interested in being an actor-combatant for this event.
Star Wars uncut trailer
No, lovely lurkers, the Stage Combat Club’s three entries do not appear in the trailer. But I’ll betcha we’ll get into the final “cut” itself. Enjoy the trailer. Also, if you sign in to Vimeo and click “like” on the scenes you like, it’s more likely they’ll make it to the last cut. Go “like” us! ~Jenn
Club Podcast
Enjoy this swordplay video of our recent club meetings. Have fun, and also be warned.
Fight Club Fight Clip Club
Here’s a fun behind-the-scenes video from Fight Club. About halfway through is when the fighting comes in. Fun stuff, though–neat views on the makeup process. I also recommend Part Two, which is focused on the gunshot to the mouth. ~Jenn
